The owner retires
A founder hands the business to the team that runs it. What it looks like when the reasons don’t retire with him.
The Cambrian Collection runs three hotels in South Wales. After twenty years, its founder and managing director, David Pugh, is retiring. His management team is buying the business, with a lender behind them. Seren Lloyd, who runs the flagship, Wyecastle Resort, will take his place.
Without Pohja
David knows why things are the way they are: why the capital approval limit hasn’t gone up, why Pentraeth Seafood kept its contract after missed deliveries, which contracts were signed over Legal’s objection.
The lender asks. The answer is a lunch with David, and whatever he remembers.
After he goes, there is nobody left to ask.
With Pohja · the handover
Jane, the Memory Owner, records David’s departure and names who replaces him. What he led, owned and carried passes to Seren in one step. Everything he recorded stays in his name.
Seren’s Home says what she now holds.
With Pohja · the lender’s question
The lender asks why the approval limit hasn’t been raised. Seren asks Memory.
The decision answers, in the words used at the time.
The business changes hands. The reasons don’t leave with the founder.
The Cambrian Collection is a fictional organisation. Its people and records are illustrative. Every screen shown is real.
